Stripe decline code
lost_card
The issuer declined because the card has been reported lost. For security, banks don't reveal this to the cardholder at checkout.

Why it happens
- The customer reported the card lost and the bank blocked it.
- The bank is reissuing a replacement card.
- The saved card is now permanently inactive.
Should you retry it?
No — the customer must update their card
A card reported lost is blocked permanently. Only a new card from the customer will recover the payment.
How to recover it
Ask the customer to add their replacement card via a secure update page. Don't keep retrying the blocked card.
Retrying won't fix this code — the customer has to act. Recoverly's approve-first sequence emails the customer a Stripe-hosted payment page where they can update their card in one click. Recoverly never charges or retries cards itself.
