Stripe decline code
stolen_card
The issuer declined because the card has been reported stolen. As with lost cards, the reason is hidden from the cardholder at checkout for security.

Why it happens
- The customer reported the card stolen and the bank blocked it.
- The bank flagged the card for fraud and froze it.
- A replacement card is being issued.
Should you retry it?
No — the customer must update their card
A stolen card is permanently blocked. Retrying is futile; the customer must supply a new card.
How to recover it
Invite the customer to add their new card on a secure update page. Stop retrying the blocked card.
Retrying won't fix this code — the customer has to act. Recoverly's approve-first sequence emails the customer a Stripe-hosted payment page where they can update their card in one click. Recoverly never charges or retries cards itself.
